Plain pop up with sticker applied for extra strength.

I start my pop up pages with Cut It Up Pop Ups unless I am doing a custom design (like the mountains for the Noah's Ark page) or need a special color. Plan on making a pop up for practice before you start in on a page with expensive papers and die cuts. This is especially true if you are using a 3 ring binder or strap- hinge album with a large gap between the pages. For these albums with large center gaps the pop up will have to be trimmed specially. For a strap hinge album I fold the pop up in half and trim an additional 1/2 inch out of the center to make a wider gap in the middle. Before adhering your pop up to the page you will need to decide what angle you want the pop up to have. You will notice that the Noah's Ark pop up lays back more than the Beach pop up.

When you have decided the angle that you want the pop up to stand then place a strip of adhesive along the bottom of the pop up and place the pop up on your pages. Those using page protectors may wish to place the pop up on top of the page protector in order to maintain the integrity of the page protector. In addition, a pop up may be laminated with the Xyron Machine before it is placed on the page.

Now that you have practiced creating a pop up and see how it works you are ready for a real pop up page. I always plan the page  and create the pop up before I adhere anything to the page. You can use a pencil to sketch a line where your pop up will be placed while you are creating the pages. After the pop up is ready and the page is done adhere the pop up following the instructions above and then place a sticker strip such as Mrs. Grossman's Design Lines on top of the base of the pop up to give it added support.
